About Coach Dakota

My Story

Growing up, I never had the opportunity to play football. The only chance I got was in the backyard with my dad. In high school, I looked forward to our annual powder puff game—a single night where we were coached by senior football players. It was the highlight of my high school career, but outside of that, there were no real opportunities for girls to play.

When I got to college, I discovered coed intramural flag football and instantly fell in love with the game. That passion led me to an incredible opportunity to try out and play professionally in women’s flag football. I seized the chance and never looked back. After years of competing at the highest level, I transitioned into coaching, leading Sequoyah High School’s inaugural flag football team. Thanks to Arthur Blank and the Atlanta Falcons, flag football was introduced to high schools across Georgia, giving countless girls their first real chance to play.

After coaching for a few years, I took a step back to focus on my biggest role yet—being a mom to my daughter. Fast forward, and now both my daughter and the sport of flag football have grown tremendously. The most incredible part? She now has the opportunity I never had. She can start playing at four years old, continue through high school, and even pursue the game at the collegiate level or in the Olympics. The game has evolved, and girls now have real opportunities to play, compete, and excel.

I founded DH Flag Football Academy to create even more opportunities for girls to learn and master the game at a high level. If this academy helps just one girl make her school team or inspires her to chase her dreams, then it's all worth it. Seeing the girls I once coached now playing at the collegiate level—and even stepping into coaching roles themselves—is the most rewarding part of my journey.

Football has always been bigger than just the game. I was fortunate to have coaches who shaped me as both a player and a person, and now, I’m honored to pass the torch to the next generation.

Dakota is a great leader and trainer for my daughter in flag football. She’s very positive, energetic, friendly, and knows a lot about flag football. I am beyond grateful for the incredible impact Dakota has had on my daughter. From the very first session, she created a positive, supportive environment that helped her feel comfortable and motivated. Not only did she tailor workouts to her needs (including switching sports each season), but she also focused on building her confidence every step of the way.

Thanks to Dakota’s encouragement and expertise, my daughter has grown stronger—not just physically, but mentally as well. She now believes in herself, sets new goals, and approaches challenges with determination. Seeing her newfound confidence has been truly amazing!

Our daughter, Bella, met Dakota over 6 years ago. Our family made several trips to watch Dakota as the amazing QB with the women’s professional Football League. Also following her around Cherokee County during her coaching years of High School women’s flag football, even to the Benz for the inaugural year state championship for high school flag.

Attending and growing from every clinic Dakota has ever hosted, our daughter’s evolving love for football has just gotten stronger. Bella has played flag football since she was 6 years old. Just wrapping up her freshman high school season as starting QB, she was chosen as a regional first pick offensive player of the year, played in both the 2024-2025 first Georgia Elite flag football games as well as GFFCA All Star Tournament. All this has been possible due to the skills training, in depth knowledge and motivational learning from Dakota and her team.

Dakota’s passion for not only the sports world but her drive to help young ladies grow in self confidence and athleticism is something that our family will always cherish. Thank you Dakota for always supporting our young ladies and showing them what a strong amazing woman can do! You are the BEAST!!!
